520	3		_aEn este trabajo, se describen las principales características litológicas y estructurales de la prolongación austral de la Sierra de Ancasti, en la provincia de Catamarca. -El Basamento cristalino, se halla integrado por la Formación Ancasti, y el complejo Sierra Brava, de edad Precámbrica-paleozoica inferior S. L., y la cobertura sedimentaria, por las formaciones: La Antigua, Pérmico; y la Formación Portillo, del Terciario (en subsuelo). Se describen las mismas realizándose breves consideraciones sobre su correlacion con otros afloramietos en las provincias del Noroeste argentino. -Se efectúa además, una corta reseña, de los depósitos cuaternarios, estructura y eventos tectónicos actuantes en el área. .
