In this paper we have evaluated the possibilities offered for the processing and analysis of environmental data at the regional level through NOAA imagery. For this application, we have used four-bands satellite images( one visible and three infrared) from central Patagonia, Argentina. The methodological approach used small-scale criteria and comparisons with already existing information(maps, articles, and Landsat images).- Different options are presented for the employment of satellite images in order to tackle specifific situations where multispectral information, low spatial resolution and frequent observations are needed.- As an example of the advantages offered by the preconized methodology for resource evaluation, we are presenting a map of large geomophologic units.
