El saladillo, está emplazado en el sector central del valle tectónico de Guemes, en una suave estructura anticlinal fallada. -Las manifestaciones superficiales termales, consisten en cinco manantiales principales y un número no preciso de secundarios, cuyas aguas cloruradas - bicarbonatadas - sódicas, tienen temperaturas que varían entre 32º C y 35º C y se las utiliza en balneoterapia. -La temperatura del reservorio ha sido calculada en 60º C y se concluye un sistema geotermal de agua templada en zona de flujo de calor casi normal.
