N2  - En este trabajo, se describen las principales características litológicas y estructurales de la prolongación austral de la Sierra de Ancasti, en la provincia de Catamarca. -El Basamento cristalino, se halla integrado por la Formación Ancasti, y el complejo Sierra Brava, de edad Precámbrica-paleozoica inferior S. L., y la cobertura sedimentaria, por las formaciones: La Antigua, Pérmico; y la Formación Portillo, del Terciario (en subsuelo). Se describen las mismas realizándose breves consideraciones sobre su correlacion con otros afloramietos en las provincias del Noroeste argentino. -Se efectúa además, una corta reseña, de los depósitos cuaternarios, estructura y eventos tectónicos actuantes en el área.; In this paper, the principal litologycs and structural features of austral prolongation Ancasti range in the Catamarca province are described.-The cristalline basament, formed by Ancasti Formation anh Sierra Brava Complex, age Precambrian-lower Paleozoic S. L. and the sedimentary coverage, by The Antigua Formation, Permain, and The Portillo Formation, Tertiary (in subsurface), also described, with a brief considerations concerning their correlation, with other evidences of the Northwestern, Argentina provinces. -Likewise a brief summary, the cuaternary deposits, structure; and tectónical events wich actd in the area
