El área estudiada, con una superficie de 800 Km2, se ubica al SW de la provincia de Salta.--afloran en la zona rocas precámbricas, (metamórficas) sobre las que se asientan en discordancia angular los sedimentos del Grupo Salta (Cretácico Terciario), del Terciario Superior (Mioceno-Plioceno) y Cuaternario.-Caracteriza a la región una estructura constituida por grandes pliegues fallados. Los mismos son asimétricos con sus flancos empinados hacia el oeste y con rumbo general NNW-SSE.-Los sediementos de la formación Yacoraite (Cretácico), alojan importantes depósitos de Uranio. The studied area, with a surface of eight hundred sp. kilometers, is located at the south west of the province of Salta. -Precambrian rocks (metamorphics), outcrop in the zone, over which are seated in angular unconformity the sediments of the Salta Group (Cretaceous-Tertiary), of rhe Terriary Superior (Miocene-Pliocene) and Quaternary.-The region is characterized by a structure established by big folds faulted.The same are, asymetrical with their limbs steep towards the west an whith general strike towards NNW-SSE.-The Yacoraite,s sediemnts formation (Cretaceous) contain important Uranium deposits.
