Se describe la estratigrafía de la zona conformada por un basamento leptometamórfico (Formación Puncoviscana) sobre el que asientan sucesivamente el Grupo Mesón (Cámbrico) con sus tres unidades formacionales y la Formación Santa Rosita (Ordovícico). El Terciárico está representado por el Subgrupo Metán en facies atípicas, y por su parte el Cuaternárico cubre una amplia superficie como depósitos aterrazados o como relleno de cauces actuales. El estilo estructural es típico de Cordillera Oriental, caracterizado por una tectónica de bloques con fallas inversas de alto ángulo que provocan un plegamiento apretado y volcado hacia el naciente.-Finalmente se incluye la descripción de las manifestaciones termales, su distribución y una hipótesis sobre el origen del calor.

The stratigraphy of the zone, formed by a leptometamorphic basament (Puncoviscana Formation) everlain successively by the Meson Group (Cambrian) with its three formtion units and the Santa Rosita Formation (Ordovician), is described. The Terciary is represented by de Metan Subgroup in atypical facies, and the Quaternary, on the other hand, by a large area of present scour and fill. The structure is typical of the Eastern Cordillera (Cordillera Oriental), characterized by block tectonics with hifh-rank reserve faults resulting in tight and tilted folding to the east.-Lastly, a description of hot springs and their distribution as well as a hypotesis on their source of heat are given.
